Walking on Kolocep Island
|
Two settlements Gornje and Donje Celo lie in secluded sandy coves in the shade of
centuries-old pine wood, reflecting in the azure Adriatic Sea. Numerous paths and
footways edged with stone walls and saturated with the intoxicating scent of aromatic
Adriatic plants lead to the Kriz and Spasovo Brdo hills, as well as to the most distant corners of the island.
Myths and legends of coral divers and sea captains conjure up the mysterious past
of the island. Numerous monuments, particularly the remnants of sarcophaguses and
interwoven stone carving are evidence that the island was inhabited already in the
ancient times.
Old Croatian chapels and churches are scattered everywhere, and the ruins of medieval
forts stand on every important stronghold of the island.
To assist your discovery of the island, we have 3 marked
trails described in a brochure
available at the Hotel’s reception.
